Unifrax Fyrewrap Elite 1.5 is a fire-rated flexible insulation wrap used to provide 2 hour fire ratings to commercial kitchen exhausts, grease ducts, and air ventilation ducting. Fyrewrap Elite 1.5 is composed of high-temperature ceramic blanket which is fully encapsulated with a reinforced scrim foil facing. The encapsulated foil prevents the fibrous core material from absorbing grease and other potential flammable liquids which could accelerate a fire.

Installation:
Unifrax Fyrewrap Elite 1.5 has two different installations depending on the application. For standard air ventilation ductwork only a single layer of Fyrewrap Elite 1.5 is required. On Grease Ducts, Kitchen Exhaust Fans, Chemical Fume Vents etc. a double layer is required to achieve the proper fire protection.
The first layer is wrapped around the ductwork and either weld pinned or held onto the duct temporarily with fiberglass reinforced filament tape. Wherever material is joined together the use of a "compression butt joint" is required. A Compression butt joint (or Compressed butt joint) is where the two ends of the material are jammed together so both ends are pushing inwards towards the seam. Once the first layer is installed, the second layer is installed in a similar fashion making sure to stagger the seams so that the center of each 24" wrap is directly over the first layers seams/joints. The second layer is fastened either by weldpin or by 1/2" wide stainless steel banding straps. Straps should be installed 1-1/2" off each joint and the center of each wrap of material on the second layer making sure that the maximum spacing between bands is 10-1/2" on center. Each cut of the fire blanket should be sealed with 3" wide aluminum foil tape to ensure the encapsulating foil facing is sealed.
